Getting Started

To be able to create an army list for a particular army/faction in a particular game system, BattleScribe needs the appropriate data files for them. BattleScribe can download data files for you from a data file repository - a collection of data files shared on the Internet.

Important: Due to legal reasons, BattleScribe does not create, maintain or distribute data files itself. All data files are created and shared by the community. If you find a problem with a data file (e.g. wrong points, missing upgrades...) you should contact it's author.

  1. Find data repositories by searching the Internet for "BattleScribe data files" (or click the Search for repositories button below).
  2. Right-click the link to the repository you want and choose Copy link address (or similar).
  3. In BattleScribe, click the Manage Data button in the toolbar (or click the Add a repository button below).
  4. Right-click in the Repository URL box and choose Paste. Click the Add button to add the repository to your list.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 to add as many repositories as you want.
  6. Click the Update Data button and BattleScribe will download all the data files from your list of repositories. Be patient - this could take some time depending on how many files there are and how fast your Internet connection is.
